To put it simply, avinotec picks up the live videos, transports them to the streaming server and makes them available on mobile phones.
This is the “Mobile Video Platform”.
The significance of the mobile Internet has continuously increased since the introduction of UMTS. So the focus of our transmission system is on mobile cameras and mobile phones.
The live pictures can be transferred as video over our mobile video platform in a way which is personalised for your terminal. Your PC as well as your mobile phone can present the live videos, without having to install further players.
The illustration shows the capabilities of the mobile video platform.
Various sources can supply the live pictures. Here IP-Cams (net-cams) are used. Local cameras also work, for example USB webcams installed at a PC.
Under the help of the “Mobile Video Producer” as capture software the pictures are converted into live video stream for mobile phones.
The streaming server controls the streams, administers user and manages video files.
The streams can be viewed on a mobile phone or on a PC.
Cameras (IP-Cam)
For the monitoring of private or business property we offer monitoring cameras from different manufacturers.
These cameras can provide a stream themselves but this is not suitable for mobile phones and needs to be converted using Mobile Video Producer.
PC with Webcam
A USB webcam or data processing camera, or any other preferred camera (DirectX driver or VfW driver), can be connected to a PC.
Our capture software (“Mobile Video Producer”) enables the transmission of live video streams from a private webcam, for example from home, over the Internet or the mobile network to your own UMTS and GPRS mobile phone.
Off-line content
Video files are prepared by avinotec, conforming to 3GP standards, in a large range of resolutions and quality. Nearly all input formats can be used by the streaming server.
Customer specific connection
Some of our customers already have PC to PC communication and manage their video streams centrally.
To integrate the mobile video platform it is simple to connect the MVP directly to the customer’s system. Here avinotec works closely with the customer to develop a solution.
Streaming server
The central component of this system is the “streaming server” connected to the backend of the mobile video platform. This streaming server receives the live video from the capture software and passes it on to the user’s mobile phone.
The streaming server streams the video files and allows for changes in the data transmission rate, case by case, depending on the reception at the mobile phone.
Backend
The backend of the mobile video platform is responsible for the administration
of the streams, the user and the files. The backend generates the web pages
for the
mobile phone and the PC. These web pages are the user interface or so called
front-end.
The administration of users (credits, fees, account invoicing, release of streams and film downloads) and administration of friends (community building) also takes place in the backend.
Mobile Video Producer
The Mobile Video Producer is the capture application for the conversion of pictures into a video stream for the mobile phone.
Mobile Video Producer uses the latest formats H.263, MPEG-4 video, and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.
avinotec has developed its own MPEG-4 and AVC codec which can deliver to video-capable terminals without recognising the terminal.
The capture software codes the live video stream for the mobile phone from the pictures provided by the camera.
In this way “Mobile Video Producer” fetches the pictures/streams from the camera and can process them also on a PC in a LAN.
A capture application fetches the picture from an IP-Cam, or converts the stream into mobile phone format.
avinotec has provided different capture applications for different uses (Webcam, IPCam, firm-specific solutions, Desktop, capture TV, etc).
The capture application “cap_eccj” on a Windows PC is shown here, which is used for streaming an IP-Cam (Mobotix, Selea, Axis). The capture application is controlled remotely from a mobile phone over the MVP so the camera can be switched on and off. After switch on, the capture application looks like this on the MVP:

Videochat
In the text field “send” you can send a text message from the
PC, via the camera, to all the viewers. As a user you yourself are a viewer
but it is possible to have multiple viewers such as friends whom you allow
to access the stream.
The text uses a faded effect to appear in the picture on the mobile phone
for a short period.
Software update
avinotec develops, maintains and upgrades all its software products continuously.
Therefore new capabilities and features are added often. Please check regularly
if an update is available.
In the menu line you will find the option “online update“.
The software checks if a newer version is available and updates itself automatically
if required.
Mobile phone
Live videos from cameras are sent to mobile terminals by the mobile video platform.
A commercially available video-capable mobile phone may be used as a terminal. The video stream is provided by avinotec's capture software in such a way that GSM has sufficient bandwidth. An UMTS or HSDPA signal is not required.
Therefore your viewing is guaranteed irrespective of location. In Germany today, only GSM is available outside of the cities but with our service you can still see live video in real-time.
Videochat
For chat avinotec provides a small Java application allowing text to be
written and sent to the camera.
PC (browser)
Internet browser
If you do not see video in your browser, you should download the latest
version of the Quicktime Player
- it should be free. Also the Realplayer
(also free) can be used to view the stream on a PC. Other tools include
VLC or MPlayer.

Snapshot
You can take a snapshot of the camera at any time using the menu page “snapshot”. A small picture is available on the MVP as a preview. By clicking the preview picture you can capture a high-resolution snapshot picture.
You can create a link in your own website to the preview picture and to the high-resolution snapshot picture. It is enough to enter the link (for example http://mvp.avinotec.de/pepimage/1tn.jpg for the preview picture or http://mvp.avinotec.de/pepimage/1.jpg for the high-resolution picture).
